MORNING

First you can visit the new baby animals at the farm parks and don't forget to look out for the baby seals too.

Try out the luge before lunch - probably best not to have too much excitement on a full tummy!

AFTERNOON

Watch some traditional Kiwi sheep shearing or explore the limestone caves.

EVENING

Just enough time for some fishing. You might even catch your own dinner.

NEXT DAY

Have a family kayaking adventure around the peninsula. You never know what you might see!

Highlights

  • Fishing – start of the new season. Bring your own fishing gear or go for a fishing charter – both fish & crayfish!
  • Check out the baby seals in the seal colonies around the coast
  • As the days lengthen and the temperature increases, great time to get out on to the water for some kayaking
  • Enjoy a short walk on the Fyffe Palmer walkway or climb a bit higher on Mt Fyffe – overnight in the hut and get up early to hear 1000’s of Hutton’s Shearwaters heading out for the day – Kaikoura is the only place in the world where these fascinating little seabirds breed.
  • The ultimate spring time combo – ski in the morning at Mt Lyford and then down to the coast for an afternoon surf at one of Kaikoura’s excellent surfing spots
  • Soak in the views of the mountains with the last of the spring snow coverage
